The Knights of Columbus are Catholic men of faith and men of charitable action. Membership in the Knights of Columbus provides an association with brotherly companions. It offers the opportunity for fellowship with those of the same belief who recognize the same duty to God, to family and to neighbour, and who stand with those who share those beliefs. Programs are organized to appeal to the individual interests of the members and to enable them to render service to their church, their country, and their fellow men. Regularly-scheduled times of prayer and devotion are also part of the Knights’ charism, helping brothers to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.

WHY BECOME A KNIGHT ?

If you are interested in helping our parishes grow and to be a part of a recognized community organization that  hears the needs of our communities, then look no farther than to us.

We have been involved in helping others on the Coast since 1997 when our council Bishop Durieu 11244 was first formed. We serve communities on the Sunshine Coast from Port Mellon to Egmont, especially Gibsons, Sechelt & Madeira Park.

Our accomplishments are too many to list here but a few include our charity appeal fund which over the years has brought in around 62,000.00 of which one third has gone to High School Scholarships for students from all high schools on the Coast, all the local food banks have also been recipients of this same fund, as well as many other charities.

Our council has been doing pancake breakfasts and beef dips after Sunday masses with the proceeds going to help pay off our mortgages and to erect two memorials to the unborn, one at St. Mary’s and the other at Holy Family.

There are many other ways you can participate in the parish & community with the many programs we do, such as Keep Christ in Christmas, food banks and helping the elderly and the needy as well as working with the youth in our communities.

But, we do not forget that we are a family organization and there are programs and events for us to get together and enjoy time with our families, such as bar-b-ques, a ladies appreciation night, dinners and dances that our children can attend as well and Christmas pageants and parties.
